New York City To Be Home For The Breakaway Cruise Ship

Norwegian Cruise Line’s newest ship - The Breakaway, will call New York City its home port and it will be the largest ship ever to be based out of New York City. Currently under construction at the Meyer Werft shipyard Germany, and with a carrying capacity of up to 4,000 passengers, Norwegian Breakway will be launched in May 12, 2013 as the first of NCL’s two Project Breakaway cruise ships. Sister ship Norwegian Getaway will debut in May 2014.
Breakaway that weighs 144,017 tons will boast new rooms designed to invoke a boutique hotel and a luxury private area called The Haven, complete with 24-hour butler service, a poolside valet and white-tablecloth in-room dining. Ship’s cabins represent a dramatic pull-back from accommodations found on Epic. Much of what made Epic’s cabins unique, curvy walls, beds and couches, in-cabin bowl sinks and a split bathroom design featuring see-through doors, has been bypassed in favor of a Scandinavian design, traditional layout and a handful of flourishes.
The ship will travel to Bermuda, and prices are expected to start at around $1,199 per ticket.
