Ocean Travel/Mantis 80 Yacht

If you’re looking for your next floating palace, the Monaco Yacht Show is the place to be. The annual hob-nob of the nautical elite gather here -- probably because they all live there. This year, one of the standout stars was Dixon Yacht Design’s Mantis 80 sailing yacht.
The 80-meter vessel is designed to slip through the water, powered by nothing else bar the wind -- although there’s an engine attached in case you get into a bit of bother. It’s a far cry from the current crop of mega monstrosities currently being snapped up by Russia’s oligarchs and captains of industry.
But that’s not to say the Mantis 80 can’t do luxury like its uglier counterparts. The yacht comes with specially designed folding balconies and a beach platform giving passengers inside a better look at those sea vistas. Inside, the three decks accommodate an owner’s suite, two double cabins and a further two bedrooms.
There are large open-plan entertainment spaces and an outdoor bar area at the rear for more, er, entertaining. No word on how many sales Dixon Yachts have been made at the Monaco show, but if we were in the market for an elegant solution to traveling on the high seas, this would be at the top of our list.
